Many in Motion
A proposal for a design for a new set of protected bike lanes in New Orleans. This design for a bike lane features a variety of bicycles to represent the different kinds of people and cyclists in New Orleans. This design aims to suggest a variety of uses of bike lanes and to enable a diverse set of riders to see themselves both in the design and as a biker in New Orleans streets. The design is based around a grid of circles. Each bike takes up two or three circles. Because of this modularity, it’s possible to continue varying the pattern while applying it. The design uses enlarged dots in the grid to create arrows, suggesting movement and excitement, and it subtly indiicating which way riders should be traveling. Completed with Alison Rex.
